Very disappointing ?????

D Backs are playing 48.3% capacity at home.

Curretnly Ranked 23rd in overall home attendance. 23,657.

First place and coming home after a sweep in the ATL.

I'm not a fan but with the first place New York Mets in town why wasn't there any games near 40,000 ?

Posters in Phoenix why don't people go to the games ?

Where are the New York fans ?

Seriously what is the excuse ?

I have no answer as to why they don't attend the games. If I could, I'd go to every game. I love going to baseball games. Great fun.

However, the Diamondbacks losing seven-straight the first week after the Sus are no longer the top team in town isn't helping the matter.

There may very well be a backlash against the new owners for the way they treated Colangelo. They forced him out and nearly bankrupted a man who did more for the citiy's sports than anyone. Brought the Suns to town, helped found the WNBA and then brought in baseball and the first major Title to the town. They walked all over that and forced him to sell his beloved Suns just to pay dues.

They treated him very badly and while I didn't agree with everything he did, he deserved better and many people in Phoenix probably feel the same.

I've been to a few games at the BOB, now Chase, and have to say that for me it isn't a very satisfactory place to watch a baseball game from an baseball atmosphere standpoint. Even when the D-backs were playing at their best with the majority of the seats filled it has always seemed to have the feel somewhat like an empty b-ball gym or warehouse. I don't know if other people have the same feelings and maybe that's why they stay away? It could be that the awe of having a new stadium has worn off or even that Phx fans tend to be more fickle. I'd venture to say its a combination of all the above.

I have been to Chase about 10 times.

The roof is always closed. It reminds me of a Costco warehouse. The ticket prices weren't out of line. The food and drinks are but you have to expect that.

Saying that they still are winning and most seats you can buy on a game day walk up are still good views.

I haven't been to a game yet this season though.

I always go to root for the other team.
Mostly the Padres and once for the White Sox.

I didn't see the attendance figures for the Sat or Sun games, but I was at both the Thursday and Friday night games.

I was surprised how few people were there. On thursday the "crowd" was about 22,400 and friday it was about 24,700.

Both nights I sat down the rightfield line ,in section 113 on Thursday and 115 on Friday. There were plenty of Mets fans were I was sitting, and we were having a good time

I don't think the status of the roof had much impact on the crowd or the games. It was closed on Thursday and open on friday.

I couple I work with went to a game earlier in the week (vs. the phillies) and they said the crowd was about the same.

It's got to get better for the D-backs, because after getting beat 7 straight at home, it can't get any worse.

For those that don't realize, Phoenix is a pretty fair weather sports town.

The AZ Cardinals are one of the only NFL teams that don't sell out and they aren't even come close, I haven't seen numbers but they have to be the lowest attendance every year.

And when the Dbacks were losing 112 games or whatever, the stadium was completely empty.

I also don't remember how the Suns attendance was when they were bad, was the attendance poor?

S.O.

Still well above average. Probably around 13/14000 of the 16000+ capacity.
