An Ode to The Big Game Today

Something deep down inside of me keeps telling me LSU is in for trouble today in Death Valley, might be homer induced psychosis because I can't give you good data to back this up but I just feel it.

Mike gets lamented sometimes for not being a good game coach, but he has shown the ability to get the Cats ready for big games, especially given what he has had to work with the last two seasons. The Cats will be coming in unafraid and exceptionally motivated to show the country they are back.

I see alot of close wins for LSU last year plus uncertainty in the Oline/at RB/and even at QB, an unproven but possibly excellent Arizona defense, an Arizona offense that might be coming in under the radar given last week's performance. Coupled with the tendancy for those in the know to prop the SEC whilst dismissing the Pac 10, and the consequent possibility that the Tigers may not be taking the Cats seriously looking foreward to AU next week before they take care of UA this week.

On paper it looks like an easy LSU win, but they play the game on grass not paper, and in my gut something is telling me LSU fan ought to be nervous about this one.

As an aside, my thanks to all the LSU fans contributing to the board this week, you have certainly positively added to the run up to today's game. I wish you the best against AU next week, but have to wish you the worst (aside from injuries) against UA this week.

Corso & Herbstreit are predicting a one-possesion game into the fourth quarter. Couldn't ask for anything more as a Cat fan!

Suprising, given that LSU is at the top of the SEC and Arizona middle to bottom of the Pac 10, and how much better of a conference the SEC is compared to the Pac 10. Plus it's a home game in one of college football's greatest home fields.

Even though Herbie has shown a tendancy to prop us this year I would have thought they would go with the "close game for awhile, LSU pulls away to a 20 point win" party line.

Hopefully they know something I don't.

Well, it is an ESPN2 TV game. No way are they going to play it up as a mismatch. They are playing it up to be a good game and I think it will be. LSU is expecting to win but they are not expecting an easy win.

I look for a tight defensive battle early in the game, but a higher scoring second half as a deeper LSU wears down Zona in Louisiana September humidity. Fortunately, temps are going to be no higher than about 90 due to clouds in the area. Unfortunately, humidity is 76% right now and will only fall to about 65% by game time.

Shouldn't the humidity rise as the temperature drops? Calling Dallas Raines . . . can we get a weather update!?

Reasonable prediction, Red. I refuse to make one of my own because I really don't know where our offense will be.

BJBJ, the humidity falls with temperature in Baton Rouge, because the air is always completely saturated with water. When the temperature drops, the air just can't hold as much water! Miserable place!

You misspelled "University of Texas."
