seemed like we went that way for a good part of the game anyways and it really helped to give tui a little extra time and also getting those quick passes off. now if only our rb's were better at picking up the blitz.

I've ALWAYS been a fan of using the shotgun more, not just for UofA, but for any football team I follow.
Kind of seems like a lost art to me, as most OC's rarely use it.

I also like running the two minute offense with the shotgun throughout the game. Don't let the D get set.

I concur. Spread offense is something we need to employ

but wouldnt having a spread offense require tui to be more mobile and to have at least a fair amount of option/delay plays?

Yes and no. If I can recall, when we played Wisconsin (I think), they spread their offense with a delay to the back. It worked well, but then again, they did have a better O-line than us. It's difficult to tell what can work with our young O-line. Hopefully Canales can become less conservative on his playbook and open up something.

i like the idea of going no huddle. seems like Tui's making adjustments at the line every play. why not go no huddle, speed up the process, and keep the D from making substitutions/ adjustments.

No need to play the spread O. But we should do more 3 step drops, and more plays from shotgun without a doubt. It is ridiculous how until the second half of the USC game that we were still running 5 and 7 step drops. Our O-line sucks, and we have to do everything we can to get the ball out quick, or buy extra time.
You all saw what happened when we did that. |

I like the no huddle too. I haven't seen any of it, but it would be nice to know we have it, in case we ever need a TD in a short amount of time. But yeah, it might be good for the entire game too.

Only problem with the no huddle is that the D may only get 5 minutes rest on a 3 and out. But I say go for it, not like the Cats are scoring tons of points.

This offense needs a kick in the pants because "traditional" ground it out is just not going to work. I am all for changing things up and going to a hurry-up spread offense. We cannot get much worse then having negative yards on the opening play almost every time.
This would mean actually playing more than 3 receivers, however, which is something we have been loath to do for some reason. Let's change the pace of this offense. Lute did it in basketball when the 4 out 1 in wasn't working. Stoops needs to do it here.
