I thought these announcers were jackasses talking about the 2pts so much tonight and how you shouldn't go for them but it's looking like the one UNR went for may come back to haunt them.

3 Observations:
1.) Gabbert is going to be fantastic. 2.) I love the Pistol offense. Perfect for a dual-threat QB in college. Wonder why more teams don't use it. 3.) Was it me or did it seem like both teams were slow, or playing in slow motion? Danario Alexander's 2 TDs were comical in how slow every player was.

The announcers were certainly blowing Gabbert all night, they think he's going to be something special too. I didn't see anything that impressed me but the kid is young and he DEF has the physical tools to be good.
I know that a lot of coaches have gone into Reno to clinics that Ault puts on to teach about the pistol. Always figured you'd begin to see it implemented more throughout college football. I don't know that it would be as effective without a guy like Kaepernick though who stands 6'6" himself. The announcers were saying that a lot of times the LB's can't see the RB's first step or two which puts them a step or two behind, seems to make sense to me. I thought the same thing, I'm not sure if the "slowness" was actually slowness or if it just looked that way because a lot of the big time players were 6'5"-6'6" for both teams and probably were just long striders. DB's on both teams were playing horribly regardless. |
