Anyone have any info on Enes Kanter?

5 star center from Turkey? just committed to UW

Where did this guy come from? He apparently turned down millions in Turkey to come to Findlay Prep

a little more info

The Washington Huskies are the proud of owners of what could be a significant verbal commitment. Enes Kanter, a 6-foot-9 insider out of Simi Valley (Calif.) Stoneridge Prep, picked the Huskies after looking at USC and UCLA.
“At the end of the day he had a great relationship with Coach Chillious,” Stoneridge coach David Thornton told Scout.com. “They learned about him a couple of year back and Coach Romar loves him. He got to meet with Coach Romar and the fact that he played in the NBA, that played a part.”
Just a few days ago, Kanter dropped an “unselfish” 48 points in a prep game. “He’s an NBA rebounder right now. If he’s touching it he’s getting it. He’s got NBA 3-point range right now. At this tournament we’re playing at, it doesn’t have a college 3-point line. He’s got an NBA line and international line and he’s knocking it down.”
Kanter came to the country a few months ago from Turkey. It could be a situation where he may get docked some college games for his overseas participation. “It’s hard to say,” Thornton said. “The NCAA has a rule that I’ve been hearing about where they’re not going to penalize foreign players. I don’t know but we’re going see what happens.”
In the meantime, Kanter is dropping major numbers for Stoneridge Prep. One overseas scout we spoke with termed him “physically impressive with a body like a man. He’s the best player born in 1992 in Europe.”
High praise for Washington’s most recent commitment.

Nice! I knew Chillious' work in Europe was going to help!

They have had stuff on deadspin about him.

I think there are eligibility issues, but sounds like a really talented player.

If he qualifies and isn't docked a bunch of games for his European pro team participation, it's a quality get for UW, for the 1 year you'll have him.

Texas went after him very hard as well. It sounds like no one really cared about missing a few games.
