i just think it should be called the pacific west conference with a "pacific" or "coastal" division and a "southwest" division.

Pretty much verified what you posted, smashie. We seem to be out in front of even the "Total Sports Network" at this point with breaking news, or at the very least neck-and-neck.
If the Big 12 loses those six teams, Chris Spielman and co. all agree that Mizzou's only option, if it doesn't stand pat, is the Big Ten. ESPN has been consistent from the beginning of these rumors about how friendly Missouri and the Big Ten are. "Nebraska will do what is best for the university." Consensus is that Nebraska will go in its own direction--with the Big Ten the only conference mentioned in connection with the school--no matter what the other schools do. IMHO the talking heads in Bristol still don't know jack about what is going on in the Pac-10. They were just talking about what the "other" teams (read: Big 12 and Big Ten conference affiliates) would do if the Pac-10 absorbs the six teams it offered. They did mention that those little six might try to form their own conference if they're not attracted enough by the Mountain West. That doesn't seem to be a very favorable option, though. But that's my point. Your buddy Lew isn't 'fighting', he's sounding scared to death of being left out in the cold with five other stragglers in search of a conference--and screw what happens to K-State, state loyalty be damned. "The tone of fear at the Perkins press conference" was emphasized more than once this afternoon. It's Chicken Little time at Kansas. Keeping that #1 spot atop the basketball polls isn't going to be as easy now for Bill Self. I don't know how anybody can say with a straight face today that Colorado isn't a future member of the Pac-10 conference. The deal is all but done, and once that marriage is sealed, mid-major players like Oklahoma State and Texas Tech will follow while the offer is still on the table. This will leave Texas in a stripped-down conference similar to its SWC days if it doesn't join them. It will be impossible for the Big 12 to find geographically or academically compatible replacements, and Texas will be the ruler of a consistent money-loser of a conference if it stays. Tech and Okie State have more power in these negotiations than I think anybody is giving them credit for.

Are there any sports radio stations talking about expansion that I can listen to online? We are in day 3 of the Griffey coverage, and honestly I am kind of over it.

If TAMU gets dragged into the Pac-10 by Texas and Texas Tech, I wonder if the SEC would consider getting its own reach into the midwest by taking Kansas and Kansas State.
It's kind of a stretch since it's probably a heck of a lot easier/profitable to raid the ACC, but it does stretch out their own footprint over areas they don't currently cover. |

I cant imagine the SEC has any desire to reach into Kansas. I think it's Texas or none at all

Away on errands, a few thoughts:
1. Will there be a reply of today CFB live? web or espn2? 2. I read somewhere a cool name: Within the Pac-16, the No Country for Old Men division. the division were BCS dreams go to die! ![]() 3. I continue to be amazed/astounded/shocked/impressed by the level of hubris from tOSU, Mich, Bristol, generally the so-called-football experts over their surprise with Pac-10 expansion. This tells me, if this gets pulled off, Scott and co have reshaped the landscape of college football and that the power dynamic is permanently shifted west. Its even sweeter, when you think that NO ONE saw this coming (sure maybe bits here and there) with such swiftness. BTW: its cool that the IowaSt poster gave some props to the Pac-10. Its gonna be a fun weekend following this.
